World Music Encounters: Gabriel Santiago

09Jan

Gabriel Santiago is a Brazil-born jazz composer, arranger, and guitarist. JazzTimes Magazine called him "a young master at both the acoustic and electric guitars."

He has recorded 14 albums and holds a PhD in Music Composition from UT Austin where he won awards in jazz studies. He has collaborated with Esperanza Spalding, Terence Blanchard, Carmen Bradford, and Chris Potter.

Gabriel brings with him an all-star Brazilian rhythm section: Rique Pantoja, keyboards; Adriano Santos, drums; and Eli Menezes, bass. Each member is a giant on his instrument, with a long list of illustrious credits. This will be a peak evening of Brazilian jazz.
