The President's Volunteer Service Award program at St. David's

Presidential Volunteer Service Award

The President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) program at St. David's is ON! PVSA recognizes high levels of volunteering within a one-year period, as well as offering a lifetime achievement award for super-volunteers (which we know St. David's has). Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals are available in the yearly service program. This is a fantastic way to recognize kids and keep them motivated to continue to serve their communities, to demonstrate a high school student's service commitment, and to honor adults who have given so much time for the benefit of others.

Hour requirements vary by medal level and by age. Here is the rubric:

Kids 10 and under:

  • At least 6 hours within a year to earn a bronze medal
  • At least 50 hours within a year to earn a silver meda
  • At least 75 hours within a year to earn a gold meal

Kids 11-15:

  • At least 50 hours within a year to earn a bronze medal
  • At least 75 hours within a year to earn a silver medal
  • At least 100 hours within a year to earn a gold medal

16-25 year-olds:

  • At least 100 hours within a year to earn a bronze medal
  • At least 175 hours within a year to earn a silver medal
  • At least 250 hours within a year to earn a gold medal

Adults 25 and up:

  • At least 100 hours within a year to earn a bronze medal
  • At least 250 hours within a year to earn a silver medal
  • At least 500 hours within a year to earn a gold medal

Lifetime Achievement Awards go to those who have volunteered at least 4,000 hours in their lives. Notice the switch in hours requirements from early high school (for 14-15-year-olds) to later high school (16 and up). Start documenting hours sooner rather than later!

To participate in St. David's program and be eligible for an award (which we submit on your behalf), at least 30% of your hours must be devoted to the work and connections of St. David's (e.g., service at church services such as acolyte work, kitchen duty, Ramp Build, Trinity Center, Laundry Love, etc. Beyond that, we accept documentation of hours given at school, through scouting, or other community engagement. Log all volunteer service hours by including the date, the number of hours, the organization you worked for, and a supervisor name and contact (email or phone) who can confirm the work done. St David's will put in for medals at least twice a year, roughly mid-summer and at the New Year.
