Church Foundation

The purpose of the endowment is to provide meaningful, needed enhancements that are important to our ongoing vitality, but are beyond the capacity of our annual operating revenues. Our endowment is overseen by our Church Foundation, comprised of the Rector, Senior Warden, and parishioners.

About the St. David’s Church Foundation

St. David’s Episcopal Church has a long history in community building. Many key institutions in Austin were founded by St. David’s Church and are now interwoven into the philanthropic landscape of our community. One of these institutions is St. David’s Hospital. Today, the St. David’s Foundation is often confused with the St. David’s Church Foundation. While these Foundations have a shared history, their focus is very different. The Church Foundation focuses on providing meaningful ministry enhancements to the parish, which are beyond the capacity of the annual operating budget. John Barclay, current Trustee and Past Chair of the St. David’s Church Foundation, discusses the shared history of the Hospital and the Church Foundation.

John Barclay discusses the history of the two Foundations.

With a gift to St. David’s Episcopal Church Foundation, forward thinking individuals who love St. David’s can leave an enduring legacy. The gift principal is invested and never spent when directed to an endowment fund. As the funds of the Foundation grow, distributions from earnings are made. These distributions support the purposes for which the endowment funds were established.

Today, net assets of St. David’s Episcopal Church Foundation are near $7 million. A gift to St. David’s Episcopal Church Foundation is a wonderful way simultaneously to be part of our church history and of our church future.
