Frank Baldwin

Frank has been involved in education as a teacher, counselor, and administrator. He became a CPA and worked as the controller for an oil-field equipment company. When that venture was sold, he went back to teaching and taught computer programming until he retired. In 1994 he moved to Johnson City and became a St. David’s parishioner. Since 2000, he has volunteered to do accounting work at St. David’s. You will see Frank most Sunday’s singing in the choir. He enjoys travel, working in the yard, and having a rather extensive model railroad.

Danni Biddle

Danni was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She joined the accounting department at St. David’s in 2020 straight from Texas State University, where she graduated with a BA in Business Administration of Accountancy. Aside from working she enjoys participating in aerial silks at the Blue Lapis Light studio. Danni also enjoys drawing, cooking, and being outdoors with Jazzy, a 2-year-old Yorkshire Terrier.

Lori Blewett

Director of Communications

Lori brings more than 20 years of communications experience and a focus on engaging diverse audiences. For most of her career, she worked nearby at Austin Community College, Employees Retirement System of Texas, and The University of Texas at Austin. Her enthusiasm for community and communications are a natural fit for St. David’s.

Lori holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications from Towson University and a Master of Liberal Arts Degree in Extension Studies from Harvard University. She enjoys treasure-hunting at estate sales, playing Scrabble, and spending time with family and friends.

Oscar Borrego

Lead Sexton

Oscar was born in Guadalajara, Mexico where he completed two years of college. He also worked for an airline. In 1988 Oscar moved to the US and became a citizen in 1991. Prior to St. David’s, Oscar worked for Walmart as an overnight stocker in California, Tennessee, and Texas. He is married and has three children. In his spare time, he enjoys walking, fishing, and listening to folk and classic rock music.

Sara Cannon

Sara attended the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in English. Austin stole her heart in college, and after graduation in 2016, she spent time working with the American Cancer Society and now works full time for school website provider Edlio. 

While at UT, Sara was active in her service sorority and the Episcopal Student Center at All Saints’ Episcopal Church and was one of Beth Magill Franklin’s students. She served on the student vestry, as a small group leader, an acolyte, and was the first person to win the Golden Spoon award solo. Sara also served as a delegate with the Episcopal Peace Fellowship’s cohort to General Convention during summer 2018 right here in Austin and is currently on the Advisory Board for the Student Center. When not at work with websites or youth ministry, she enjoys running and fitness, trivia nights, cooking, watching reality television and sports, her two cats Lady and Earl, and going to Longhorn football games. Sara became Assistant Director of St. David’s Youth Ministry in 2019.

Taylor is from Austin and has been an employee of St. David’s Holy Grounds since September 2016. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Integrative Studies and earned a Digital Marketing Certificate from the University of Texas at Austin. When she’s not working, Taylor loves to drink large amounts of coffee and cuddle with her cat, Oliver.

Kelsey Cooper

Kelsey’s favorite thing about her calling is getting to spend time with “youts” and helping them recognize where and how God is working in their lives. Kelsey has two Bachelor’s of Arts in English and Philosophy from Texas Lutheran University. Kelsey and her husband Adam of seven years came to Austin in 2018 from Seguin, Texas. They have a 100lb dog Lane, and three hooligan cats, Willow, Malbec, and Danvers. Kelsey previously served as the Director of the youth ministry at St. Luke’s on the Lake and became St. David’s Director of Youth Ministry in January of 2022.

Laura Faulk

Laura Lancaster Faulk came to Austin during her college years and stayed.  She has been a parishioner at St. David’s for more than 25 years.  During that time she has volunteered with the church in many ways, including Chair of the Children’s Ministry Vestry. In 1998 she began with the St. David’s Day School. In 2016 she retired as Head of School for St. David’s Day School but has continued to work part-time as Child Care Coordinator. Currently, her job includes child care oversight of Sunday and weekday child care, Parent’s Night Out, and Camp St. David’s. She also leads training classes for Safeguarding God’s Children for the Episcopal Diocese. Laura has two, now-grown, children who grew up at St. David’s.

Holt Haley-Walker

Holt Haley-Walker and her husband Tony joined the St. David’s community in 2009 as parents to Day School students Alice and Robin. Holt grew up in Albuquerque, NM as a member of the Episcopal Church. She received an undergraduate degree in Theater Design at the University of Dallas and worked as Properties Director for the Dallas Shakespeare Company. After graduation, Holt studied graphic design at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago and worked for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt publishing. She founded Holt Haley-Walker Graphic Design in 2004; working with clients such as The University of Houston, Texas Tech University, The Iona Center at The Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest, and Cornell Publishing. Holt has found a great deal of joy as a staff member, parishioner, and volunteer for St. David’s Church and was delighted to accept a position in the communications department as Assistant Director in 2018.

Rebecca Hall

Rebecca Hall, MSF joined the St. David’s staff in April 2007. She has a degree in International Studies/Romance Languages from the University of Missouri, and a Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation from Seminary of the Southwest. Particular areas of interest are in vocation and discernment, Benedictine and Ignatian spiritualities and practices, Christian discipleship, and contemplative practices. Rebecca practices spiritual direction with groups and individuals and leads retreats. She also periodically consults with other churches on how to integrate small group ministry and other adult formation programs into the life of Episcopal parishes. In addition to St. David’s, Rebecca also works for St. Benedict’s Workshop as a theological reflection group leader. Rebecca is Director of Spiritual Formation and Discipleship at the Iona Center at Seminary of the Southwest.

Michael J. Holder

In 2018 Michael became St. David’s Facilities Manager, and two years later was accepted into the Iona School for Ministry. The Iona School for Ministry is a 3-year program of the Diocese of Texas providing comprehensive training for persons called to the bi-vocational priesthood, the diaconate, and various lay ministries. While continuing his duties at St. David’s, Michael also prepares one weekend a month for ministry in missional communities, and/ or assisting local parishes through preaching, teaching, and ministry formation.

Jim Lamm

Jim has served as a parish administrator for more than 25 years at both small and large congregations. His most recent church position was at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin. He was their parish administrator for five years. He also served as construction manager for their $21 million “Building the Beloved Community” project.

Jim earned his Master of Business Administration in Nonprofit Management from the University of St. Thomas Opus School of Business in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and he has also received the Outstanding Service Award by the Association of Parish Business Administrators.

Jim is a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, and came to Austin in 2006 after living 15 years in St. Paul, Minnesota. He and his wife, Karen, live in Cedar Park with their children, Lizzy, Emile, and Angie, along with Bosco, a 2-year-old Shih Tzu.

Eric Malnassy has been a parishioner at St. David’s for more than 25 years. During that time, he has served the church on various committees, including the Stewardship, Capital Campaign, Outreach and Building committees. He has also served in worship ministries as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Intercessor. From 2018 – 2020 he served on the Vestry, including as Senior Warden in 2020.

Eric and his wife Misty were married at St. David’s in 2004. They are both are graduates of The University of Texas at Austin. Together they have enjoyed volunteering at church as Ushers and with Café Divine Outreach to our homeless neighbors.

Eric is responsible for overseeing gifts to the church to support ministries including giving to the annual fund, capital campaign, and endowment. Eric became interim Director of Stewardship and Planned Giving in 2022. Prior to this, he worked at The St. David’s Healthcare Partnership as Senior Manager of Process Improvement. Eric became director of stewardship and planned giving in 2022.

Eric Mellenbruch

Organist & Associate Music Director

Eric was appointed Organist & Associate Music Director in 2015 and named Interim Choirmaster for 2022–23. A lifelong church musician, he has worked in the Episcopal Church for over 25 years, toward the end ‘that what we sing with our lips we may believe in our hearts…and show forth in our lives’.

For St David’s Eric has written, arranged, edited, and/or translated well over a hundred choral anthems; translated and adapted, among other chant, many of the historic propers for the Sunday Eucharist and Morning Prayer; and written over 300 treatments of congregational song. His many articles on the parish’s music draw upon his larger body of writing and teaching on the church year and its texts and music. 

Eric’s performance and research of organ music of the 16th–17th centuries has in recent years included a series of Organ Vespers exploring liturgical keyboard music in its native milieu; a series of concerts based on the contents of the first English hymnal, of which he is preparing the first critical, corrected edition; over a hundred works recorded during the disruptions of the pandemic; and a growing list of editions from original sources. As a professional typographer, Eric has designed a number of books for the Concordia University Press and The Wendish Press.

Eric earned the B.Mus. (church music) and M.Mus. (organ performance) at Baylor University and continued his formation with a year’s internship in music and liturgy at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. He served the Church of the Good Shepherd, Austin, as Organist 2000–15 and Director of Music 2007–15.

Dr. Amy Moehnke

Amy Moehnke joined the St. David’s team in May 2008 as Director of Young Adult Ministries. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Amy moved to Austin in August 2005 to pursue a Master of Divinity degree at The Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, and graduated in May 2008. Amy received her undergraduate degree in Religion and Psychology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, in May 1995. Amy earned her Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in May 2019. Amy has worked in various churches all her adult life doing youth, college and young adult ministry. She is passionate about studying and teaching the Bible, welcoming people to the church and encouraging them on their spiritual journey, and working for racial justice. In her free time she enjoys working out, running, cooking, eating, and reading. She is married to Steve Bishop and has one college-aged daughter.

Marty Newkirk

Marty was born in Illinois and moved to Texas in 1977. She joined the staff at St. David’s in 2012. She worked in the retail book industry for many years, the last 12 of which were at Hasting Entertainment. She also worked at a television station in master control and sales. Marty likes reading, listening to audio books, jigsaw puzzles, playing hidden object, and match 3 games. She has two cats.

Maureen Broy Papovich

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Maureen moved with her son and husband to Texas (College Station) in 2008. In 2011, the family relocated to Austin and joined St. David’s Church and its choirs. Maureen took over the direction of the Cherub Choir (K-2nd grades) in 2012 and has now added Children’s Choir Coordinator to her title. Maureen has been a church musician since 1992. She holds a Masters Degree in vocal performance and sings as a professional soloist and ensemble musician throughout the country. Currently, in addition to her work at St. David’s, Maureen performs locally with the One Ounce Opera and Austin Opera companies. Since 2000, Maureen has found immense joy in producing and performing in benefit recitals with other local musicians to benefit a variety of local and national charities. She enjoys Austin and St. David’s very much!

Virginia Phillips

Archivist Volunteer

Virginia arrived in Austin in December 1975 and has been attending St. David’s ever since. She was asked to serve as the church archivist when the church started to plan for its 150th-anniversary celebration in 1998. She has learned much about the church’s history since it was founded in the 1840s; the early settlers and the history of Austin. Virginia enjoys travel and reading.

Liliana Pierce

Liliana was born and raised in Mexico City until the age of 11 when she immigrated to the US. Her first home in the States was magical Lake Tahoe where she lived her early teen years. In 1998 her family relocated to Austin, TX where she graduated from L.C. Anderson High school with an International Baccalaureate (IB) certificate in Spanish. Liliana is working towards an Associate degree from Austin Community College in Health and Kinesiology. She has over 10 years of administrative and customer service experience.

Liliana loves cookbooks and experimenting in the kitchen with the help of her 3 children. Her hobbies include reading, writing, dancing, meditating and volunteering in the community.

Catherine Roberts

Catherine Roberts is originally from Orlando, Florida, and made her way to Austin via Alabama. Catherine is married to Paul Brownell, and they have a son – Nathan Hugh Brownell. Catherine graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, with a degree in Computer Science and Marketing. She has worked primarily in customer service in the computer industry, holding jobs with Intergraph Corporation, BMC Software, and the City of Austin.

Catherine previously served St. David’s as Stewardship Director and Wedding Coordinator before becoming Executive Assistant to the Rector.

Fernando Romero

Sexton

Fernando has been a Sexton at St. David’s since 2005. He particularly helps in the kitchen as we seek to maintain clean and beautiful facilities. Prior to working at St. David’s, Fernando worked as a Sexton at the Headliners Club in downtown Austin for five years. Fernando is from Tampico, Mexico where his two grown sons now live. When not at work, Fernando enjoys watching action movies and cooking Mexican food.

A 1960’ish native Austinite, David grew up in the Cedar Park-Leander area. He graduated from Leander High School in 1984 and enlisted and served on board the USS Roanoke – A 7 of the US Navy from 1984-1987 and the USN Reserve from 1987-1990. David has three children: Crystal, Russell, and Sarah. He also has two grandsons, Van and Aidan. He volunteers with Trinity Center and participates in Art from the Streets. David is an avid Texas A&M fan!

Patrick Senn

Email Patrick

Patrick grew up in Utah and was very active in sports and activities. If it was warm you’d find him playing soccer or on a bike, and if it was cold you’d see him on the slopes. After high school Patrick went to Nashville to earn a B.S. In the recording industry before realizing during his studio internship that recording studio life wasn’t for him. He then came to Austin to be closer to family while pursuing a career in live events.
Patrick loves mammals, comedy, and being within 6 feet of people.

Kimberle Smith

Kimberle Smith is an accounting and financial process professional who collaborates with corporate, private, and not-for-profit organizations to improve business and finance processes, implement financial systems, and reduce risk. Kim has more than 15 years of experience in technical accounting and finance. Kim prides herself on improving internal communication and collaborating with her peers to streamline desktop processes. Her passion is to help professionals reach their individual potential and goals. Kim holds certifications in bookkeeping, Quickbooks, and Microsoft Excel. She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and is currently pursuing her master’s. 

Kimberle is a humanitarian by nature. She promotes servant leadership through community outreach programs and volunteerism. Her current personal pursuits include work with Foundation Communities, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the Miss Plus America organization. Kimberle is a reigning Miss Plus America titleholder in the Ms. Division. 

Kimberle is happily married to David Bowman, an elementary PE teacher at Hays CISD and former touring trombonist. They have raised three great kids, Hayden, DeMarcus, and Victoria.  Kim and David currently live in Kyle, Texas, with their two spunky pups, Jack and Kiki. 

Ray Trono

Chef Ray comes to St. David’s with years of culinary experience as a Chef de Cuisine. Working in the foodservice trade since he was 15 years old, Chef Ray has cut a lot of chicken and made gallons and gallons of soup. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, he understands the finer points of the culinary arts. Prior to coming to Saint David’s, he spent two years selling groceries for US Foodservice in Austin. There, he gained much experience in disposable goods, heat and serve foods, and getting the most out of a dollar’s worth of food.

Edmundo Vasquez

Kitchen Assistant

Edmundo is from Toluca, Mexico. His wife and two sons live in Mexico. He moved to Austin 19 years ago, and has worked at St. David’s in Cafe Divine since 2011. Chef Ray says of Edmundo, “He is one of the hardest working assistants I have had in all my 35 years of kitchen work.” Edmundo also works at Chez Zee Bistro.

Dr. Mona West

Director of Adult Christian Formation

Dr. Mona West served on the international staff of Metropolitan Community Churches for 11 years as the director of formation and leadership development. In that role she created programs for clergy and laity to deepen their spiritual lives and discern their call to ministry. Prior to that she was on the staff of Cathedral of Hope for seven years as the pastor of spiritual life where she developed a comprehensive adult Christian formation program for the large corporate-size church in Dallas. She is retired clergy in Metropolitan Community Churches. Mona earned a doctorate in Hebrew Bible from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, and completed a Certificate in Spiritual Formation from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA, which included study at the International Center for St. Teresa and John of the Cross in Avila, Spain. She is passionate about biblical spiritual formation, the intersections of sexuality, spirituality and social justice, contemplative spiritual practices, the spirituality of leadership, and empowering marginalized groups to trust scripture for spiritual formation. She has written and published in these areas, as well as teaching about them on the faculty of several colleges and universities, most recently as adjunct faculty at Seminary of the Southwest here in Austin. Mona has also travelled extensively presenting workshops, lectures, and sermons at seminaries in Indonesia, Cuba, and the Philippines. For leisure and well-being Mona enjoys running, camping, hiking, kayaking, and vegetable gardening. She and her spouse of 24 years, Deb Elder, have lived in Austin since 2008. They are certified Travis County Master Gardeners and enjoy volunteering for the East Austin Garden Fair.

Amanda Wischkaemper

Amanda Wischkaemper joined the staff of St. David’s in 2013. She previously served as Pastor for Children’s Ministries for six years at St. James by-the-Sea in La Jolla, California. Amanda is a lifelong Episcopalian who came to church work after a career as a professional actor. Childhood participation in the late Rev. Lawrence Waddy’s “Bible Drama” ministry led to a life in both the church and performing arts! Amanda is grateful for the opportunity to teach our youngest parishioners the value and beauty of our liturgy, and nurture and develop their innate spirituality and creativity. Amanda also loves weddings, and is delighted to work with couples here at St. David’s, as she did at St. James by-the-Sea.

Amanda holds an MFA in Acting from Brooklyn College, AB in Theatre from Davidson College, and completed coursework for an MA in Theatre Arts from San Diego State University. Amanda and her husband Mark (Director of Music for Bethell Hall) live in South Austin with a menagerie of rescue dogs. They joyfully welcomed daughter Abby in 2017.

Mark Wischkaemper

Mark Wischkaemper was already involved in music in the Episcopal church when he graduated from Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University with a degree in Music Theory. He was the baritone section leader at St. Michael’s All Angels, then upon graduation moved back to his native Southern California, where he spent several years leading a choir at a small Lutheran Church on the giant Santa Monica Boulevard. He moved home to San Diego looking for better traffic, and found it, along with a section leader position at St. James-by-the-Sea, where he served, sang, and worshipped for six years. He also fell in love with and married their Children’s Director, Amanda! Mark loves all music, and is called to look at worship in new and invigorating ways, deepening and broadening our spiritual experiences in church.

In addition to serving at St. David’s, Mark moonlights as an ACE-certified personal trainer. He also builds furniture out of a shop in his garage, and has built several pieces for St. David’s. He helps out with various choirs around Austin, makes ambient guitar meditations as The Lighted Hilltop, loves to cook, and adores living in Austin. He and Amanda are parents to Abby, whom they welcomed in 2017, and three very silly dogs, Nate, Luna, and Minnie.
