One Church, One Book

We invite the entire St. David’s community to the communal and individual practice of reading and reflecting on scripture daily during Lent.

This year we will all read The Gospel of Luke. We will have six Wednesday evening discussions-each on a different theme in Luke. Dinner available each Wednesday in Sumners Hall for $7 between 5:30-6:30. Registration is helpful, but not necessary.

Pick up a bookmark that lists the readings for each day of Lent at the front desk, in the bookstore, or around the church.  Daily readings are also listed online.

For Deeper Reflection

Once a week, try to spend extra time with the scripture reading. Choose 5-10 verses (or a parable or short section of scripture) that you would like to explore more deeply.

Think about the following (and journal if you like):

  • What do you notice about this passage? Notice as many things as possible.
  • Of what you noticed, choose one thing to ponder more deeply. Spend some time thinking about why you chose this and what it might mean to you.
  • Is God calling you to anything?
