The St. David’s Singers is an intergenerational choir, open to those with all levels of musical experience. This friendly chorus is led by Associate Director of Music and organist Eric Mellenbruch. The ensemble serves at a variety of worship services approximately once every three weeks, and the choir sings a wide variety of choral literature.
The St. David’s Singers includes members with a range of musical backgrounds, from those with decades of choral experience to singers who are at the very beginning of their musical journey. The choristers enjoy a relaxed and learning-focused rehearsal atmosphere that emphasizes music reading and interpretation, healthy choral and vocal practices, and fellowship with our fellow singers.
The choir rehearses on Tuesdays from 7 to 8:45 p.m. in the choir room. Many of us gather beforehand for dinner together around 6:15 p.m. at Holy Grounds coffee shop — open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, and offers many dinner selections.
Choral Evensong for the Feast of St Luke the Evangelist
Thursday, October 18, 7:30 p.m.
Evensong (sung Evening Prayer), part of the Church’s ancient round of daily services of psalmody, scripture, and prayer, is a beloved and beautiful Anglican tradition, enriched by candlelight incense, and fine music. Evensong for the Feast of St. Luke, sung by the St. David’s Singers, will feature chant for this great feast interspersed with short Renaissance choral and organ pieces based upon the chant, complemented by a thrilling modern anthem for saints’ days. Evensong is an especially appropriate way to give thanks for the life and witness of St. Luke, as so many of the canticles sung at this and other services come from his Gospel. Please join us.
