As baptized Christians we are all full members of the body of Christ and are encouraged to serve as we feel called.
Participating in Worship
Acolyting is a wonderful way to get more connected to your worship experience, and to give back to your church! Acolytes are typically 6th-12th graders; however, if you are strong enough to carry a torch, we welcome you on board! Acolytes serve on teams of four; Gospel/1st server, two Torches, and Crucifer, and are arranged by service preference. Involvement can be as little as once a month, or as often as you like by substituting for those who are unable to serve on a given Sunday. We offer yearly trainings and on an as-needed basis. Please email Acolyte Leader Jenny Campbell for more information.
This choir is for students in 6th-12th grade. The youth ensemble practices most Sunday afternoons, 12:30-2 p.m. They often join the children’s choirs and/or Parish choir, and are involved in annual services such as Advent Lessons and Carols. Please visit the Children’s and Youth Choir page for more information.
Youth grades 10th and up are eligible for youth confirmation classes every spring in April and May. At St. David’s, we do 4-5 weekly classes that focus on education, and a weekend retreat at Camp Allen focused on personal belief and faith, and faith in community. Classes cover topics such as a basic understanding of the Bible & Book of Common Prayer, a history of the Episcopal Church and it’s structures, and discussion of Sacraments. The weekend retreat allows for our confirmands to spend extended, meaningful time in Nature journaling and diving into their own faith, as well as discussing it with their peers and teachers. At the end of the retreat, confirmands design and carry out their own Eucharist with the aid of a priest.
Our confirmation dates this year are April 8, 15, 22, and 29, with a retreat the evening of May 4 through the afternoon on May 6. If you are interested in signing up or have questions, please email Jenny Campbell.
