June 6-9, 2011: Middle School Mission Trip
St. David’s will join Christ Church Cathedral, and St. Stephen’s youth in grades 6-8 (rising 7th-9th graders) will have the opportunity to participate in Mission Galveston. We will continue the work, begun by Episcopal Relief and Development, of responding to the needs of a community ravaged by Hurricane Ike. Students will visit St. Vincent’s House, an Episcopal organization that strives to provide comprehensive social services and community outreach programs to the disadvantaged population in Galveston. Additionally, students will do some small construction work and learn more about how they can make a difference in their own communities. Participants will be housed at the William Temple Center across from UTMB.

July 9-16, 2011: High School Mission Trip [Location: New Orleans, LA]
Registration Packet
Join Episcopal youth from across the country to learn more about the breadth and depth of the Episcopal Church in the United States. We will explore what it means to foster Christian partnerships through fellowship opportunities and mission efforts. This trip will provide opportunities for self-discovery through encounters with the other. In addition, it is an excellent time for youth to engage in meaningful actions and subsequent reflections in a Christian context. Traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana, youth will also be part of a unique cultural exchange.

Fundraisers

All youth fundraisers are to help pay for the Youth Spring Break Pilgrimage and Summer Mission Trips. Financial assistance is always available for youth if they have participated in fundraising activities. Financial means will never be a restriction from participation in youth events at St. David’s.

Brisket Sales: Youth will help to coordinate sales of brisket for noteworthy football games throughout the year to be sold on Sunday mornings.
Christmas Wreath Sales: Every year during October and November, the youth sell beautiful evergreen Christmas wreaths to help with funding for the ski trip or mission trip.

Mamma Leone’s Italian Dinner: Usually in January, the youth host this Italian Dinner for the parish and friends to help raise money for ski trip. The youth sell tickets, work as waiters and waitresses, and auction off desserts.  This is a really fun, festive event.
Flamingo Flocking: Please join the youth in this zany, hilarious fundraiser by spreading pink flamingos throughout the parish family. Stealth youth teams will flock parishioners’ homes after dark, leaving a bright surprise throughout yards across town. If you wake up to the bright pink surprise, please call the Rev. Beth Magill to arrange for flock removal for $25, and the possibility of passing on the excitement to another family for $50. All funds raised will help to send the youth on their mission trips to New Orleans and Galveston this summer. Flamingos appearing in a yard near you in the Spring of 2011!
